1. day Vysoké Mýto and Nové Hrady

From the town of towers and gates you will head to Nové Hrady, where a stunning rococo castle, also known as the Czech Versailles, awaits you. In its grounds you shouldn’t miss the Museum of Motor Bikes which will take you through the history from the first motorised bicycles to today's electric bikes.

Vysoké Mýto

Historical centre - Přemysl Otakar II Square bordered by three fortification towers will enchant you with its charming houses and its vastness - you will stroll through the largest rectangular square in the Czech Republic.

The Museum of Czech Car Bodywork - in the former town hall you will visit a museum commemorating the car designer Josef Sodomka You will be enchanted by the shiny car bodies from the 1920s and you will also get a glimpse into the process of their manufacturing.

Regional Museum - you will get acquainted with the historical firefighting equipment of the local company Stratílek and an exposition presenting the history of Vysoké Mýto.

Nové Hrady Chateau

You will taste a small piece of sweet France in the grounds of a fabulous rococo chateau which boasts the nickname “Czech Versailles”. Inside you will see an exhibition of historic furniture. Enjoy a walk in the colourful gardens and discover what secrets the natural labyrinth holds. Gentlemen will appreciate the extensive collection of the Museum of Motor Bikes, while ladies will enjoy the visit of the Gallery of English Hats.

- If you are a fan of mountain biking try the singletracks Na Vinicích in Vysoké Mýto.
- You can enjoy a few extra off-road kilometres on the route if you go from Nové Hrady via Jarošov and Budislav. You can discover the beauty of the Toulovcovy Maštale Natural Reserve thanks to special cycling routes. You can enjoy the views of the surroundings from the Toulovec lookout tower on the Jarošov Hill.

2. day (20 km) Polička and Žďárské Hills

Polička

Town walls in Polička - see the majesty of the medieval walls directly from their ramparts. With a length of over one kilometre the fortifications in Polička belong to the best preserved urban defence systems in Central Europe

Historical centre - admire the splendid Baroque town hall, the richly decorated Marian column and the unique set of classical carved doors of the houses in the square.

Telecí

Folk architecture - charming landscape of the Žďárské Hills surrounds typical historical folk buildings in Telecí.

Lukás's Lime Tree - the monumental lime tree is one of the oldest in the country. The wind rustling in its crown will perhaps give you an idea why it is also called the singing lime tree.

3. day (50.5 km) From Polička to Litomyšl

From Polička, the birthplace of Bohuslav Martinů, you will cycle to Litomyšl, where Bedřich Smetana was born. You will learn about the life stories of both world-famous composers and enjoy beautiful nature on the border of Bohemia and Moravia.

Polička

Municipal Museum - take a look into a classroom from the times of Bohuslav Martinů and learn about the life and work of the famous native. The museum will also present you the rich history of the town and the fragile beauty of glass from the Horácko Region.
Native room of Bohuslav Martinů - climb up to the small room in the tower of the Church of St. James. You will find out how the family of the famous composer was living 36 metres above the ground and what views inspired Martinů in his later works.

Litomyšl

Castle UNESCO - a Renaissance castle that belongs to the world’s most unique sights will enchant you with its original sgraffiti, palace theatre and representative halls. You will also stroll through the French gardens and the English park.

Native flat of Bedřich Smetana - the exhibition in the former castle brewery will take you back to the time when Bedřich Smetana was born there. You will find out how old he was when he first gave concerts to the castle lords, when his compositional work began and where his life path led.

The Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross with the Angel's View - you will enjoy an impressive view of the castle hill and the historic town centre. Don't miss a tour of the church whose interiors combine Baroque architecture with modern art.

Monastery Gardens - the extensive gardens near the castle are perfect for relaxing in the company of charming sights. Here you can enjoy a unique view of the town and the sculptures of Olbram Zoubek.

Portmoneum - you can visit the magical world of goblins, ghosts and devils in an unassuming house near the centre. The colourful paintings on the walls will take you to the world of Josef Váchal, a peculiar and versatile artist whose work inspired the idea of the Spa for the Spirit in Litomyšl.
